Mount Gay Black Barrel comes from Barbados’ Mount Gay, the world’s oldest running rum distillery, with a heritage dating back to 1703. More than three centuries of rum-making expertise have shaped the distinctive Barbadian style the brand is known for today.
Black Barrel is a blend of rich and aromatic rums distilled in traditional column and double-retort pot stills, matured in American whiskey casks and finished for six months in deeply charred bourbon casks. This double-cask maturation gives the rum its bold character, with notes of toasted vanilla, toffee, orange zest and warm spice.
Robust and versatile, Black Barrel works particularly well in spirit-forward cocktails where its rich character can shine such as Old Fashioned and Rum Sour, while also being smooth enough to enjoy neat or over ice.
